Please join Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin (the Alliance) and Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services for Children (WI EMSC), in improving pediatric safety in emergency department (ED) settings. In order to get accurate measurements more consistently, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that patient weights be measured, recorded, communicated and documented using kilograms only. Standardizing all weights in kilograms helps to reduce errors caused by converting measurements from one system to another and helps ED staff treat pediatric patients more safely and effectively.
Keep it kilos
Make the switch to “keep it kilos” – weigh and record pediatric weights in kilograms only. Show your support by participating in the #WorthTheWeight campaign.
It’s easy for your ED to participate! Just fill in one of our customizable #WorthTheWeight signs and post a photo on social media using the hashtag #WorthTheWeight. It’s a fun opportunity to join child health advocates from around the state as we raise awareness for this important issue. Click here for social copy.
