The EMSC Innovation and Improvement Center is spearheading a n ationwide quality improvement collaborative to improve pediatric readiness in emergency departments. Fourteen Wisconsin emergency departments have joined the Pediatric Readiness Quality Collaborative (PRQC). These emergency departments will work with trainers from the Wisconsin EMSC program over two years to improve pediatric readiness using a quality improvement framework.
Each emergency department has selected one of the following intervention bundles to focus on:
- Weighing and recording pediatric patients’ weight in kilograms
- Developing a notification
- Establishing inter‐facility transfer guidelines
- Integrating pediatric‐specific needs into disaster plans
